Spiritual Practice

For this course, we were asked to keep a spiritual practice.  I chose Lectio Divina, following this guide. I didn't follow their time frames, my attention span just isn't that long (I know you can build that up overtime, but 7 minutes of meditation is my max currently.) I added music to this because often my brain needs the sound to focus.  I also sometimes drew or colored during the rest period.  At the end of the semester we were asked to share a reflection of our practice.  I decided to create a collage of the tools, spaces, music, readings, and some of my journaling.  Below the collage I will include some links to some of the featured items.

The struggle I had with this practice is that it often felt like additional homework rather than a practice, and it was hard to maintain consistency with this practice on weeks when schoolwork was overwhelming.  One thing I have seen throughout my journals and the readings I was drawn to was an unintentional thread on decision making and how to make the best decisions, and the fear behind making the wrong one.  This was a concern I was not necessarily aware of, so its good to note that this is a concern I have. This summer, where my workload is lighter, I would like to continue this practice and see if I can establish it for the fall semester.   I would also like to incorporate an art focused component and find a journal that could feature both writing and drawing.
